In the fall of the 2022-23 school year, 12% of Colorado’s students in grades PK-12 were enrolled in special education and received specially designed instructional programs to meet their needs. However, given the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Colorado’s education system, this figure may underestimate or overestimate the true population of public school children with special needs.
