Tell Governor Polis to Protect Students with Disabilities!
Colorado students with disabilities deserve the same rights, protections, and respect as every other student. Senate Bill 26-125 will ensure equal access to public schools by strengthening protections against disability and civil rights discrimination for Colorado students.
Governor Polis needs to sign this law now!
The federal government is no longer enforcing civil and disability rights like it used to, and students and families have fewer places to turn when discrimination happens in schools. Signing this bill into law will provide clear protections in Colorado law and help ensure students and families are not left holding the bag.
Signing Senate Bill 125 into law matters because it:
- Sets clear legal rights and protections for students with disabilities in Colorado.
- Resolves concerns early, before harm reaches students.
- Prevents discrimination and holds schools accountable for equal access.
Colorado has an opportunity to protect disability rights and equal educational opportunity. Governor Polis must sign SB125 into law without delay and protect students with disabilities.
Take Action:
Students with disabilities deserve equal access to public schools. The federal government is no longer enforcing civil rights like it used to, so Colorado must step up to ensure ALL Colorado kids are safe and supported in their classrooms.
Urge Governor Polis to sign SB26-125 into law now and ensure Colorado students with disabilities have the protections they deserve.
Health Care Costs Are About to Rise in Colorado!
Health care in Colorado is already too expensive, and now, lawmakers are facing a decision that will determine whether costs spiral further out of control.
If the Colorado Health Insurance Affordability Enterprise (HIAE) is not fully funded, Coloradans who buy insurance on their own through our state marketplace will see their monthly premiums increase, and many will be forced to drop coverage entirely. This will lead families to delay care, skip medications, or take on medical debt because they cannot afford coverage.
The Health Enterprise plays a critical role in keeping health care accessible and affordable across our state. It:
- Makes health insurance more affordable through Reinsurance, especially for people living in rural and mountain communities where costs are often highest.
- Provides financial assistance, or subsidies, for people buying insurance on the exchange, helping keep health insurance affordable.
- Expands access to coverage by allowing Coloradans without documentation to buy private health insurance through the OmniSalud program.
If lawmakers fail to act now, they are choosing higher costs, more uninsured Coloradans, and greater strain on hospitals and local economies. When health coverage drops, everyone pays more.
Take Action:
Contact your legislators today and make your voice heard. Tell them:
- A vote against funding the Health Enterprise is a vote for higher health care costs and more people without coverage.
- A vote for funding the HIAE is a vote for saving health coverage for Coloradans.
- A yes vote for the Health Enterprise is a yes vote for maintaining health coverage for all Coloradans.
If we do not pass this bill, thousands of Colorado families will not be able to afford health insurance
Urge your legislators to vote YES on SB26-178 to stop rising costs of health care and protect access to care.
Tell Your Legislators to Support Child Care!
Support SB26-180 to ensure that Colorado's children and families can access and afford the high quality child care they deserve.
In Colorado, child care is both unaffordable and unavailable. Colorado is one of the most expensive states in the nation for child care, costing families nearly $20,000 a year for center-based care for infants and toddlers. Even if families can pay for care, the majority of Coloradans live in child care deserts where it is impossible to find an available provider.
It doesn't need to be this way. Child care can and should be affordable!
Every dollar we invest in child care pays off: children who attend high quality child care and preschool programs have higher graduation rates, higher earning potential, and better socioemotional outcomes. Providing parents with the opportunity to work could generate over $2 billion in potential revenue for our economy. Child care is the smart investment!
Take Action:
Tell your legislators to make child care more affordable in Colorado by supporting SB26-180. This bill will generate funding needed to provide more Colorado families with the high quality child care their kids deserve.
