The Colorado Children’s Campaign congratulates Governor-elect Phil Weiser, Lieutenant Governor-elect Lesley Dahlkemper, Attorney General-elect Jena Griswold, Secretary of State-elect Amanda Gonzalez, and Treasurer-elect Jeff Bridges on their election. We also congratulate the newly elected members of the State Board of Education, the incoming members of the Colorado General Assembly and Colorado’s congressional delegation.
This is a moment of enormous possibility for Colorado’s kids. Our state has made important progress, and a new administration and incoming legislature bring a new opportunity to build on it, strengthen what works, and set our sights even higher.
We want Colorado to be the best place in the country to be a kid and raise a kid. Getting there means putting kids and families at the center of how state government works, choosing strong leaders who can turn bold ideas into results, and bringing agencies together so families experience a government that works for them. We look forward to supporting the Weiser team through the transition, working with incoming lawmakers, helping identify strong leaders for state agencies, and working together to break down the silos that too often stand between families and the support they need.
“Kids don’t grow up in agencies or programs. They grow up in families and communities,” said Heather Tritten, President and CEO of the Colorado Children’s Campaign. “Governor-elect Weiser has a chance to build a state government around that simple truth. We are excited to work with him to bring leaders together, make government work better for families, and build a Colorado where every kid has what they need to thrive.”
The Campaign thanks Colorado voters for showing up for kids. We are eager to begin working with Governor-elect Weiser and Colorado’s newly elected leaders, from the State Capitol to D.C., to make Colorado the best place to be a kid and raise a kid.
