The Colorado Maternal Mental Health Collaborative and Framework has compiled multiple resources to spotlight the landscape of Black maternal mental health and the importance of recognizing the unique challenges Black women and birthing people face when seeking care. Find several resources and opportunities to engage below:

  • Parents Thrive’s Culture & Identity blog provides articles and resources on perinatal and postpartum mental health, breastfeeding/chestfeeding, trauma-informed therapy, and more.
  • The Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for Professionals of Color collaborates, advocates, and builds stronger support systems for both families and professionals of color.
  • The Denver Metro area has a new Doula Support Program, which provides training and stipends. Email leah.rashidyan@cuanschutz.edu to learn more about how to become a peer support specialist doula in Denver, supporting pregnant women and people with a current or history of substance use disorder.
  • Parents Thrive has a new peer support program which connects Colorado parents and caregivers to share challenges, celebrate successes, and uplift one another – recognizing the community disconnection that can come with becoming a parent or caregiver.
  • Join the Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative (CPCQC) and the Colorado Chapter of Postpartum Support International (CO-PSI) for a virtual perinatal mental health resource roundtable on April 26 at 10 a.m.
  • Save the date for the CPCQC Annual Conference on May 12 at 9 a.m. This conference brings together leaders and stakeholders from across Colorado, including clinical, public health, and community sectors, working to improve maternal and infant well-being.
