DENVER – The Colorado Children’s Campaign understands the tough fiscal situation facing Colorado’s state budget this upcoming year, and we are committed to ensuring that children remain a top priority. The Governor’s proposal underscores this commitment by recognizing the importance of public education and essential health services, despite significant budget constraints.

In a call for action at the statehouse, Heather Tritten, CEO of the Colorado Children’s Campaign, stated, “Colorado’s kids deserve every opportunity to succeed. We urge the legislature to prioritize our children in our state budget by implementing the new Public School Funding Formula in a sustainable manner and to make the necessary investments and protections to ensure that every child has access to quality education, health care, and housing, especially those kids in high need areas or facing the most barriers to success.”

We also continue to advocate for increased support for child care and preschool, including support for the workforce and providers, affordable health insurance, and stable economic supports for families. These investments are critical, particularly in a year when economic uncertainty and the cost of living loom large.

The Children’s Campaign is committed to ensuring that Colorado’s kids and families have the support they need, and we will work alongside the General Assembly and other policymakers to make children’s well-being central to the state’s fiscal priorities.
