Riley Kitts

Riley@ColoradoKids.org

Riley is the Chief Policy and Research Officer at the Colorado Children’s Campaign, where he leads efforts to advocate for children’s well-being. After five years with The Campaign, Riley took a brief stint away as the Interim State Director/Policy Director for Democrats for Education Reform and Education Reform Now, where he was proud to work on historic legislation to rewrite the state’s inequitable and outdated School Finance Formula (HB24-1448). Riley has spent his career in Colorado politics, working both inside and outside of the State Capitol.

Riley initially joined The Campaign from the Colorado Department of Human Services, where he spent three legislative sessions spearheading the agency’s legislative and budgetary agendas. Prior to that, he spent several years with the Colorado House Democrats serving in various roles. Along with the passage of a new School Finance Formula, some of Riley’s proudest legislative accomplishments include the passage of free, full-day kindergarten, legislation that allowed for undocumented kids to receive health insurance, and the establishment of Universal Preschool and creation of the new Colorado Department of Early Childhood. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
