Madi Ashour
Madi is the Director of K-12 Education Policy at the Colorado Children’s Campaign. She began her career in the classroom in 2009, teaching civic engagement and leadership in Denver high schools. She then served at the National Conference of State Legislatures, analyzing thousands of bills related to state academic standards, publishing a groundbreaking analysis on top performing countries with the National Center on Education and the Economy, and assisting state legislative leaders in leveraging the 2015 Every Student Succeeds Act to better serve low-income students. After serving at the Education Commission of the States, Madi turned to advocacy at the Foundation for Excellence in Education, where she directed student-centered legislative strategy across seven western states.
In her work at The Campaign, she sets and leads the organization’s K-12 education portfolio, maintains relationships with key stakeholders, and coordinates policy advocacy strategies to improve school funding and drive improved student outcomes. Across her 17 years in education policy, Madi’s work has directed more than a billion public dollars toward underserved student populations.
Madi also serves as an award-winning companion volunteer at Judi’s House, a free grief counseling center for families based in Aurora. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Denver.
